Our
Guiding Principles
"Where there is no vision, the people
perish." (Proverbs 29:18) These words from the Bible challenge First Baptist Church
in Knoxville to have a focus on the future and an understanding of God's vision and
direction for our church. Without this vision we will wander aimlessly and finally perish.
With this vision, we will bear fruit for the Kingdom of God.
Giving direction to our church is our Mission
Statement which is
one way of expressing what Jesus declared to be the highest priorities for Christians when
he offered the Great Commandment (Mark 12:28-31) and his Great Commission (Matthew
28:18-20). This Statement describes what we are to be doing as a church.
Inspired by the Mission of the Church is our Vision Statement for
the particular future of First Baptist Church over the next seven years. This Statement
tells how we are to live out our mission as a church.
Supplementing these two Statements is a list of Core
Values which uniquely describes the values at the heart of our
identity as a church. These Values illustrate who we are as a church while
we fulfill our mission and vision.
