Counseling Ministry Resumes February 15

 

     First Baptist welcomes Dr. G. David Lovett, licensed pastoral counselor, marriage and family therapist, and respected member of the Knoxville counseling community, as an interim counselor following the retirement of Bob Money.

 

     Dr. Lovett will be accepting appointments each Friday in the church office beginning at 8:30 am. Please contact Dr. Lovett directly at 584-9001 or by email at gdavid@lock-net.com to make an appointment. Services will be provided on a sliding fee scale and information about billing for insurance and payment are available on his website, www.pastoral-counseling.net, or by contacting Linda Spencer, ministry assistant to Dr. Shiell, in the church office (546-9661).

 

     Dr. Lovett received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as well as the Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC, and  the Doctor of Ministry in pastoral counseling and psychotherapy from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, Ill. He is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and is licensed by the State of Tennessee An ordained minister, Lovett served as a pastor before practicing full-time counseling. He is endorsed by the Episcopal Church through the Assembly of Episcopal Healthcare Chaplains and he is a member of St. John’s Cathedral. Dr. Lovett is married to Anne Elkins Lovett and together they share six grown children and eight grandchildren.
