First Baptist Church takes seriously its commitment to the spiritual development of our young people. Our ministry to children reflects that commitment. The Children’s Ministry is made up of grades 1-5.
Weekly, the children meet every Sunday morning for Bible study, and every Wednesday evening in Children’s Choirs and missions education (G.A.’s for girls and R.A.’s for boys). Periodically, the children also participate in additional discipleship studies. In the summer, First Baptist has a week of Vacation Bible School. In addition, “Terrific Tuesday” is held several times during the summer. On this day, the children go on a special day trip. Previous trips have included Forbidden Caverns, Tennessee Smokies Baseball, and Tataru's Gymnastics. A week of Kids Camp is also offered for both boys and girls. These trips and activities aid in building strong relationships among the children. However, all of these activities have one primary purpose, which is to show the children God’s love, and to lead them to a personal relationship with Him.

Continuing in the footsteps of our excellent preschool choir program, children in grades 1-5 can participate in one of 2 choirs. The younger choir is designed for grades 1-2 and children in grades 3-5 participate in the older group. Each group is lead by adults who want to share the gift of music as well as teach foundational musical skills. The older choir is working on a musical that will be presented in the Spring.

Royal Ambassadors is a missions education program for boys in grades 1-5. The name "Royal Ambassador" (RA) comes from 2 Corinthians 5:17-20. Our program revolves around mission education and uses mission projects not only to help others, but also to help the RA grow as a Christian and good citizen. We often combine mission projects with fun activities to encourage participation and keep the excitement at a "kid" level. |
