The Library of First Baptist Church
Knoxville seeks to provide an ongoing service-oriented ministry to every
age group and program in the church. Through resources that educate, enrich,
enlighten and inspire, the library shares the good news of Jesus Christ and
provides nourishment for Christian growth. As long as there
has been a First Baptist Church, there has been a library.
Location: The library is
located on the third floor of the Sanctuary Building directly
behind the Sanctuary. The library is on three levels: main level- adult
literature, second level- children's literature, third level- small group study
courses.
Hours of Service:
Sunday - 8:45 am - 10:50 am
The collection is catalogued using the Dewey Decimal
System. The Library currently contains over 10,000 volumes, on many subjects:
religious literature, reference, regional fiction and nonfiction, poetry,
biography, his
tory,
Bible commentaries, sports, gardening, cooking, adult fiction, magazines and
periodicals, children's books. The Library's strengths are in the area of
children's literature, regional works, and religious literature.
Lending Policies and Procedures: Books may be checked out by any church member or Sunday School member. The lending period is three weeks.
Gifts to the Library Ministry:Gifts to the library are welcomed and encouraged. They are subject to approval by the library staff and church leadership. All designated funds are credited through the church financial office. A gift card is given upon acceptance of gift items.
