Becoming a member of

First Baptist Church Knoxville

Have you found a home at First Baptist Church Knoxville? Are you ready to take the next step and become a member? First Baptist Church provides opportunities to join the church on Sunday mornings or during Wednesday's Bible Study. Additional ways to join are by turning in the perforated slip attached to the Sunday morning worship bulletin in the  offering plate during worship indicating that you are interested in becoming a member of First Baptist Church Knoxville. In the latter case you will be contacted by a minister who will counsel you about membership. If you have any other questions before joining, don't hesitate to contact one of our Ministry Staff at (865) 546-9661.

These are the terms we use when discussing ways to join the church:

By profession of faith and baptism — Those making a public profession of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are received into membership upon their baptism.

By reaffirmation of previous baptism by immersion —Those professing their previous baptism by immersion in keeping with the meaning of baptism practiced by First Baptist Church Knoxville are received upon that statement. First Baptist Church understands baptism to be a believer’s commitment to follow Christ in the pattern of Christ’s own life.

By letter or promise of letter — Persons who are members of another Baptist church are received by that church’s letter of recommendation or by promise of it. First Baptist Church Knoxville will write to the previous church for the letter.

Once you become a member, we hope that you will become active in the life of the church.
